My great grandmother Mary Larkin is from East Galway, she came to New Orleans in 1869. Her sister Ellen Larkin remained in East Galway so it's like going home to see your beautiful area of the world.

Reading the local happenings and seeing the community of Laurenceville, was so interesting..Thank you for glimpse into my ancestors home.. I'm interested in Lawrencetown as I've been doing some Family Tree research re Sarah WEST, dau. of Mark WEST & Bridget SALE, who was born @ Lawrencetown +1808. Sarah married Luke O'BRIEN (O'BRYAN) in 1826 @ Kiltormer, Parish of Ballinasloe, Co. Galway, had 6 children there, then came to Australia as Bounty Immigrants on the "Middlesex", which sailed from Plymouth on 9Jun1841 & arrived @ Pt. Phillip on 30Sep1841. Nine children were born in Australia, so the family has certainly helped populate Australia! If anyone has any extra information regarding this family's life in Ireland, or if they'd like any information re the Australian line, please contact me & I'd be happy to pass on any details.
