or STAUNTON (son of William) and Brigid DONOHUE (any spelling - daughter of
John) left Co Galway and came to Melbourne, Victoria Australia with children
Brigid (later COSGROVE, then HART, then McMURRAY), William, Mary (later
WARDLE) and Julia (my ggmother - later BURKE) on the ship
"Intrinsic" in 1841. They might have come from Laurencetown
or the Ballinasloe
area.

Comments: Great Website! My mother is from Kiltormer (Mary Tierney,
daughter of Margaret & William). It's been many years since I have
visited Ireland and Lawrencetown so it's pretty incredible to see how far
technology has reached. The last time I was over (1983) few people in the
Kiltormer/Lawrencetown area had telephones let alone computers. My cousin
(William Tierney son of Liam) & I would bike to Lawrencetown from
Ballydonough. I always liked Lawrencetown - quaint, pretty and very clean.
Bumping into your website brought back a lot of great memories. I have
thoroughly enjoyed seeing the Places of Interests and Local History. It
would be great to see Kiltormer do something like this as well. Next year,
My mother and my family hope to visit Ireland. Seeing your website, makes me
want to return even more. Best Wishes

Comments: I have a request. Please can someone from Lawrencetown look
up info on old horse racing history back in the 1940s My father comes from
the area and rode in the days before it became licensed he won many a race
alas his photos were taken years ago {stolen} it would bring him much joy to
find someone who remembers those days. He was raised by his aunt & uncle
McLoughlin on a farm in or near Glenamaddy thy bred horses I believe his
cousin was a Matty McLoughlin he left for Kentucky to train polo ponies
